About Us
At LuminOptix Optometry we want you to feel comfortable the moment you walk through the door. We take eyes seriously, but we take people just as seriously, and that shows in how unhurried our appointments feel and how much time we spend actually explaining what we found. Our team is bilingual, so if Spanish is what you are most comfortable speaking, you will be looked after in Spanish from the front desk to the exam room.
Whatever brings you in, we are set up for it. Maybe your eyes burn by the middle of the afternoon and drops from the pharmacy stopped helping a while ago. Maybe your child's prescription has climbed again this year and you want to know whether anything can slow it down. Maybe you have been in the same contact lenses for years and suspect there is something better out there. We see all of that every week across our San Diego and National City clinics, and we have the diagnostic equipment on site to answer those questions properly rather than guess at them.
Come in, get a real look at what is going on with your eyes, and leave with a plan that makes sense to you. Welcome to the family.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul. We are more interested in the way they are a window to the rest of your health, because a retinal scan can reveal early signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and certain neurological conditions long before anything else does. That is why our exams go beyond the prescription. We are looking at the whole picture, documenting it carefully, and comparing it against your own history year after year.
LuminOptix Optometry serves families across San Diego and National City, including Imperial Beach, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, and Chula Vista. We built this practice around the people who live here, which means bilingual care, honest conversations about cost and coverage before you commit to anything, and a genuine effort to fit around your schedule rather than the other way around. Excellence is the goal, but so is making everyone feel like they belong here.

Dr. Recker earned her bachelor's degree in cognitive psychology from the University of California, Irvine, then joined a research team at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, a Harvard affiliate, working alongside optometrists, vision scientists, biologists, and computer scientists to better understand binocularity in patients with central vision loss in both eyes. She went on to receive her doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston.
Her training placed a strong emphasis on community care and multicultural primary care in a multidisciplinary setting. She began practicing in Beverly Hills with a focus on specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses for irregular corneas, along with glaucoma, binocular vision, and post operative surgical care. She later practiced in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she refined her work with post concussion patients, stroke and traumatic brain injury care, and pediatrics.
Dr. Recker has particular interests in glaucoma, binocular vision, and post concussive care alongside comprehensive primary eye care. Clear, comfortable vision for every patient is what she cares about most. Outside the clinic she enjoys hiking, music, dancing, and spending time with her niece.
