LASIK & Refractive Surgery Co-Management
Your pre and post operative care, close to home
Co-management means your optometrist handles the evaluation before surgery and the follow up care afterward while the surgeon performs the procedure itself. It is a long established arrangement, and for most patients it is considerably more convenient than driving to a surgical center for every visit.
Before surgery we establish accurate baseline measurements, confirm the prescription is stable, treat any ocular surface disease that could affect the outcome, and send the surgeon a complete diagnostic picture.
Afterward we see you on the standard post operative schedule, typically the day after surgery and then at intervals across the following months, monitoring healing, corneal stability, intraocular pressure, and visual recovery.
Managing the post operative period well
Dry eye after LASIK is common and expected. Creating the corneal flap interrupts nerves that signal tear production, and while sensation recovers over months, the interim can be uncomfortable. Having a dry eye focused practice managing that period makes a real difference, because the full range of treatment is available rather than artificial tears alone.
We also monitor for less common issues including regression of the correction, diffuse lamellar keratitis, epithelial ingrowth, and pressure elevation from steroid drops. Anything requiring surgical attention is communicated directly to your surgeon.
Patients who had surgery elsewhere, including years ago, are welcome to transfer their ongoing care to us at any point.

Complete pre and post operative refractive care in one location, with dry eye expertise on hand throughout the healing period.

Yes. We routinely take over post operative and long term care for patients who had refractive surgery at other centers, including procedures performed years ago.
The standard schedule begins the day after surgery and continues at intervals across roughly six months, though it varies by procedure and by how you heal.
Creating the corneal flap temporarily interrupts the nerves that trigger tear production. Sensation recovers over months, and treatment during that period keeps you comfortable.
The co-management fee is generally included in the global surgical fee quoted by the surgical center. We will confirm the arrangement before you proceed.
